  • Roland Garros to Have 1,200 Security Staff

    Security staff numbers have been expanded for Roland Garros, which begins on Sunday, authorities declared in the wake of a suicide besieging at a pop show in Manchester that left no less than 22 dead.

    "We've certify 1,200 security staff, which is somewhat more than in 2016," said Jacques Le Mene, head of security at the French Open.

    French tennis alliance (FFT) representative Stephan Post included that France stayed at level two of its security ready framework, Plan Vigipirate, which determines strengthened security and danger of assault.

    "There's been no specific guidance from our security accomplice, the Paris police," Post said.

    "We truly make security a need in our activities. We're not experienced in a circumstance of an assault as in we've not experienced one, but rather we're prepared, we've done reenactments and preparing drills.

    "With the experience of a year ago, our framework is more proficient."

    As in 2016, the FFT has introduced a three-ring layer of security, with around 450,000 onlookers expected amongst Sunday and the men's last on June 11, with pinnacles of 35,000 fans for the busiest days.
